Around-the-Clock lane closure on eastbound I-90 in Snoqualmie begins August 5th

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is warning people who travel on eastbound I-90 through the Cascade Foothills to plan for additional delays over the next two weeks: August 5th – 10th and August 12th – 17th.

Contractor crews working for WSDOT will close a single lane of eastbound I-90 across the Winery Road Bridge, located just east of SR 18, to grind and repave the bridge deck. The speed limit will also be reduced to 55 mph during this work.

Eastbound I-90 Lane Closure Details

8PM Sunday, August 5th through 5AM Friday, August 10th:

  • The left lane of eastbound I-90 will be closed
  • The two open lanes will be shifted to the right
8PM Sunday, August 12th through 5AM, Friday, August 17th:
  • The right lane of eastbound I-90 will be closed.
  • The two open lanes will be shifted to the left

The weather-dependent work is part of a two-year, $21.7 million project to rehabilitate I-90 between Issaquah and North Bend. The pavement on this 15-mile section of eastbound I-90 between Issaquah and North Bend is more than 40 years old. With the approximately 73,000 vehicles using this portion of the major east-west corridor each day, the aging concrete is cracked and in need of repair.

WSDOT contractor crews are repairing the cracked concrete and replacing select concrete panels that are damaged beyond repair. Crews are also paving the outside shoulder and 10 on and off-ramps during the two-year project.

Eastbound I-90 Winery Road (happening this August) and westbound Raging River bridges will also be repaved with new concrete.
