The Snoqualmie Police Department said Sunday, February 14, 2016 around 12:30 AM, officers responded to a residential burglary in the 6800 block of SE Gove Street – in the Heights neighborhood of Snoqualmie Ridge.
A homeowner was awakened to a noise in the downstairs of his residence. When he went investigate, he found a male subject inside his living room and saw what appeared to be a firearm sitting on a table, which was later determined to be a BB gun that looked like a real handgun.
The homeowner confronted the male and a struggle ensued, which police say continued outside of the home where the subject then punched the man in the face and escaped to an awaiting vehicle.
The homeowner commented on social media that during the confrontation, her husband was able to get the license plate number of the vehicle. Snoqualmie Officers also found evidence left behind that lead them to a vehicle and address in the unincorporated area of Kent.
Search warrants of the vehicle and house were obtained and through the assistance of the Coalition of Small Cities Special Operations Team, the warrants were served with no injuries and two adult subjects were taken custody on unrelated outstanding warrants.
The homeowner, Anne Hoving, said it is still not clear how the burglar accessed the home, but it might have been that the front door lock may not have engaged.
She said that police arrested multiple people at the home identified by the license plate tied to their burglary – all of whom had various warrants. Hoving commented, “Drugs were an obvious motivator for their thefts.”
Unfortunately she said after a long standoff, police confirmed to her that the individual who broke into her home is still at large – and was not one of those arrested in Kent on outstanding warrants.
This case is still under investigation.
