Guiding Good Choices SVSD, FREE Program for Parents to Prevent Teen Substance Abuse

The Snoqualmie Valley Community Network invites parents to attend a FREE  “proven-effective prevention program” designed to help stop substance abuse among teens.

The Snoqualmie Valley Community Network’s goal is to empower and support youth in grades 4-12 to be safe, healthy, and successful – with youth suicide and substance abuse prevention being two of their highest priorities.
Guiding Good Choices SVSD

The Guiding Good Choice SVSD is five session, proven-effective prevention program that gives parents the skillsgood choices event needed to ensure the future well-being of their children.

The goal of the program is to prevent substance abuse among teens by teaching parents of preteens and younger adolescents skills to improve family communication. Parents will learn specific strategies to help children avoid drug use and other problem behaviors.

Organizers say past participants have reported feeling better prepared for the challenges that come as children grow.

The 5 session program for parents of kids ages 9-14 happens from 6:30PM – 8:30PM at Chief Kanim Middle School at 32627 Redmond Fall City Road in Fall City on:

  • February 29th
  • March 7th
  • March 14th
  • March 21st
  • March 28th

Youth are invited to the final session.  Interested parents can register online HERE. Classes tend to fill quickly so organizers say not to wait too long.

The Snoqualmie Valley Network believes all sectors of the community must collaborate to change norms and environmental conditions that influence personal health decisions – coming together to create a caring community.

Community members are invited to bring their energy, passion, and care to meetings, events, and initiatives.  For more information visit  www.SnoqualmieValleyCommunityNetwork.org

[Please note that since the program is funded by DSHS, demographics information will be collected at the time of registration.]
