Time to Build a School – Groundbreaking set for NEW Mount Si High School

The Snoqualmie Valley School District will break ground for the new Mount Si High School Wednesday, June 8th at 3PM. The community is invited to attend the groundbreaking celebration as the district prepares for construction which begins later this month.

Since voters approved the February 2015 school bond proposition, the district says it’s been working diligently on plans to completely rebuild and expand Mount Si High School at its current address – 8641 Meadowbrook Way SE.

Superintendent Joel Aune explained:

“Immediately following passage of the bond last year, the team from NAC Architecture began working with the Mount Si High School staff and students on the design of our new high school, which is scheduled to open in 2019. During the past fifteen months, a great deal has been accomplished, including finalization of the educational specifications for the new Mount Si High School building. Due to the outstanding work of the design team from NAC, district personnel, and staff at Mount Si High School, Phase I of construction is set to begin later this month. Needless to say, this is a very exciting time for the staff and the community.”

Superintendent Joel Aune added that he hopes many Snoqualmie Valley residents will join the district at Mount Si this Wednesday to celebrate the significant investment into local students, schools and the community.

The $200 million new school will be constructed on Mount Si’s current baseball/softball fields and front parking lot, allowing students to utilize the current building until most of the re-built school opens in Fall 2019.  The final pieces of the project, the new Performing Arts Center, fields and parking lot are expected to be completed by January 2021.
