Startup Success: North Bend small business celebrates second anniversary, growth fueled by community support

Two years has flown by for North Bend business BasePoint Fitness – two years that have been filled with growth and community support.

BasePoint opened in January 2015 in an inconspicuous building on W. North Bend Way (right near Pioneer Coffee). Owners Paul and Kim Goldenberger launched it with an idea: exploring a ‘refreshing new approach to health and fitness.’

Their idea seems to have caught on in the Snoqualmie Valley.

Described as a boutique fitness studio, hiding beyond the North Bend Way retail space walls are highly specialized and non-traditional fitness classes for men and women.  Class names include: Trigger Relief, Grounded, 45Knockout and 30Burn. The small classes accommodate only 8-14 people so that instructors can offer more guidance and assistance – almost like combining a personal trainer and a fitness class according to one local Facebook review.

Paul Goldenberger said obviously the first two years are tough for an independent startup, but Basepoint found locals who shared their fitness vision and now have over 100 members.

Last year as the business grew, Basepoint  hired one of their own members, Krystle Decker. Paul said that just like he and Kim, Krystel also holds a bachelor’s degree in the fitness field from Bastyr University. He added, “We strive to use a foundation of education in every aspect of our training and are constantly learning more.”

In 2016 BasePoint also linked up with Snoqualmie Valley School District’s TLC Program that helps special needs young adults. Once a month TLC students now come to the studio and take a fitness class. Instructors say getting to know these special young adults has been a very touching experience.

And most recently – and  in the spirit of helping another local startup small business – Basepoint started selling ‘Bloom Juice’ in the studio. Bloom Juice was just lauched in Issaquah by Brigette Bloom, who is very passionate about her organic, cold-pressed fruits and vegetable juices.

Congratulation BasePoint on the local startup success!
