Rain Ends Soon, Ushering in Calmer, Cooler Holiday Weather

After a short-lived bout with snow last Friday, warm air scoured out the cold and it’s been wet pretty much since then.  But the rain is about to exit for a few days – right in time for Christmas.

It won’t be a white Christmas this year, but after the rain passes through today, Monday, December 23rd, drier weather is expected for the holiday week.

Once a cold front rolls its way through this afternoon, rain should begin subsiding and temperatures will drop – not enough for a white Christmas kids – but enough for it to feel a bit like winter.

If you’re planning on traveling over Snoqualmie pass after dark tonight, weather forecasters warn that although it may be raining up there today, by tonight it’s expected to change back to snow.  Be sure to check pass reports before traveling.

For Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, it looks like partly to mostly sunny – or possibly some high clouds.  Fog is also a possibility if skies are clear at night – so freezing fog and black ice are also possibilities.

In a nutshell, after the rain finally stops later today, fairly benign weather is expected for the Christmas holiday.  No lowland snow to hamper your travel plans or Santa’s arrival.  Just some predicted sunshine and cool temperatures.

Happy Holidays Snoqualmie Valley!
