Letter | Firefighters say Thank You to Community

Dear Editor,

The Snoqualmie Firefighters Association would like to take this opportunity to thank all our Snoqualmie Valley Residents, contributors and volunteers for their continued support and patronage through the years. Our annual fund-raising Pancake Breakfast and Silent Auction held on August 19, 2017 was a huge success with record-setting attendance by our supporters.

The Snoqualmie Firefighters Association (SFFA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which helps support Snoqualmie Fire Department (SFD) with special equipment purchases, community events, public safety & fire education, human services assistance, education scholarships in medicine & fire sciences, historic preservation & maintenance of Snoqualmie’s original Engine 1 and charitable organization donations within our community.

We would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to our family members and friends for their continuous commitment to both SFD and SFFA. A very special thanks to our many generous contributors – those that have supported us for many years as well as the new comers to the Snoqualmie Valley – too many to mention all by name.

We continued our specific goal again this year of Thinking Green and promoting a Zero Waste event – both SFD and SFFA are committed to being environmentally conscientious with the ultimate core value of sustainability. This is the third year that SFFA provided only compostable plates, utensils, cups, placemats and reusable decorations for the Pancake Breakfast. Our event’s waste was then able to be recycled, reused, repurposed or composted. Each year we have improved the amount of waste captured and collected to nearly 500 lbs. per year. That calculates to almost 1500 lbs. of waste diverted from the landfills over the past three years.

Thank you all again and our sincere appreciation for helping to make the Snoqualmie Firefighters Association’s annual event such a huge success!

Sincerely,

Catherine (Cat) Cotton
