Fire Blotter | Upstairs assist; stuck across the river; lots of fire alarms; more SR 18 accidents

Here are a few of the calls the Snoqualmie Fire Department responded to over the past two weeks:

May 10th

At around 2:45PM, Snoqualmie Firefighters responded to a still alarm for a possible extinguished fire at The Club at the Snoqualmie Ridge golf course. No fire was found.

May 11th

At around 9:15PM, Snoqualmie Firefighters dispatched for a patient assist. Upon arrival, the patient’s family stated the individual needed assistance upstairs. The patient had no complaints or injuries but had been unable to walk for some time and was wheelchair bound. Firefighters assisted the patient upstairs.

May 12th

At around 7:00PM, Snoqualmie Firefighters responded to an activated fire alarm at a retail store on Center Boulevard. When they arrived on scene they found the building evacuated and saw no visible fire. The alarm panel showed heat detector activation, but the owner advised the firefighters of a water leak in the ceiling above the detector. The alarm was reset but stayed in trouble mode. Firefighters advised the owner to call an alarm technician.

At around 10:40PM, Snoqualmie Firefighters were dispatched for a burn complaint. They arrived to find a small campfire in the front yard of a home. Homeowners were burning mostly split firewood with some dimensional lumber, and were advised of
burning regulations. The agreed to remove the dimensional lumber.

May 13th

At around 6:25 pm, Snoqualmie Firefighters responded to a water rescue request. Two young ladies waded across the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River but were frightened to come back. There were no injuries and the ladies were transported to the river bank by firefighter kayak.

May 15th

At around 11:35 am, Snoqualmie Firefighters assisted other Eastside units with a four-car motor vehicle accident on Highway 18.

At around 10:50PM, Snoqualmie Firefighters responded, along with other Eastside units, to a Highway 18 two-car motor vehicle accident including one car on fire. The firefighters extinguished the fire while other units handled patient care. One of the two patients involved in the car fire was deceased, and the other was transported to Overtake Hospital for further medical attention.

May 17th

At around 1:00AM, Snoqualmie Firefighters responded to a citizen who reported being locked out of her house. Firefighters used a 14ft ladder to access a side, second-floor window. A volunteer Firefighter made access thru the window and unlocked the front door from the inside.

At around 5:05PM, Snoqualmie Firefighters were called to assist an elderly male down a stairwell from the second floor to the ground floor.

May 18th

At around 3:10AM, Snoqualmie Firefighters assisted another Eastside unit with an extinguished porch fire. The fire started on the outside of the structure and spread up the exterior wall. Firefighters assisted with removing exterior trim and checking for
interior fire hot spots.

At around 12:30pm, Snoqualmie Firefighters responded to an activated fire alarm at Mount Si High School. The alarm was found to be caused by burnt popcorn.

May 20th

At around 2:20PM, Snoqualmie Firefighters assisted the Snoqualmie Police Department in shutting off water to a house. Water was leaking out of a broken sprinkler pipe in the front yard and the leak was found by the neighbors since the homeowners were not at home.

May 21st

At around 5:10PM, Snoqualmie Firefighters responded to a possible trailer fire on the Snoqualmie Parkway. The fire was described as coming from behind a pickup truck beneath the trailer. The driver was able to pull the vehicle off the road into a parking lot. An off-duty firefighter was the first to arrive on scene, and found that the fire was caused by a short in a battery connection on the trailer.

May 22nd

At around 12:32 pm, Snoqualmie Firefighters were dispatched to a Ridge business for an activated fire alarm. They determined that the alarm was set off by burned food in a microwave.

May 23rd

At around 9:47 am, Snoqualmie Firefighters were dispatched to Highway 18 for a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident. A semi-truck rear-ended a van while approaching a red light. There was some minor damage to the van. The truck driver had no injuries and refused evaluation or treatment. The van driver was a 57-year-old female who denied injury, but requested an evaluation. Firefighters determined that she had no injury or illness, and the patient was released.

[In addition to the above calls, Snoqualmie EMTs responded to 30 medical aid incidents bringing the total number of calls to date to 371.]
